Brahmatal Trek is a hidden place in the ridge; it is where the Lord Brahma meditated as per the scriptures. The view of the peak is captivating, and it has beautiful sights to see. One can see Himal, Trishul, Bethartoli, Mrigthunj and Nandaghunti on the one side of it, and on the other side, there is Kamet, Chaukhamba, Hathi and Ghora Peaks.
Trek to Brahmatal, a lake where Lord Brahma has meditated as per mythology, is one of the few treks possible to do in winter when other trekking routes are closed. The trip is the best option in winter; it is on the opposite side of the famous Roopkund. The thrilling view of the Himalayan range from the trail is why this trek is the best. This amazingly beautiful trek starts from a small hamlet, Lohajung, which is a base for another very famous trek Roopkund Lake. The ride to Lohajung village from Kathgodam is very interesting as we get through scenic hilly road, which covers Bhimtal, Almora, Kausani, Gwaldham, etc. The ride takes 9-10 hours to reach Lohajung.
The Brahmatal trek best time to climb is the winter months of December to March because, during the winter months, we can expect snowfall. We will get the privilege of walking on snow-covered trails. The Himalayan weather is quite unpredictable in the mountains. Brahmatal being an easy level and winter-friendly trek, the weather is mostly sunny in the daytime while it gets freezing during the night. Brahmatal trek temperature is around 2 to 10 degrees Celsius during sunny days, and during nights, the temperatures drop up to -4 degrees Celsius. In the months of summer, we will be delighted to see the diverse and vivid variety of rhododendrons blooming across the trail.
